Auf Wout van Aert und Co. wartet die zweite Etappe in Tirana mit einer Gesamtlänge von 13,7 km. Das Einzelzeitfahren beinhaltet einen Anstieg. Im vergangenen Jahr fand das erste Einzelzeitfahren des Giro auf der siebten Etappe von Foligno nach Perugia statt. Den Tagessieg holte sich damals Tadej Pogacar vor Filippo Ganna und Magnus Sheffield. Die Top Five komplettierten Thymen Arensman und Maximilian Schachmann.
